Winterization (freezing-out) of oil is intended for extraction of wax-like contaminates in plant oil and on request are manufactured and assembled both for continuous and cyclic operation.

Description of winterization of oil.

Non freezed out oil is pumped with the pump Н1 into the crystallizer Е2. Pearlite powder is fed into the crystallizer Е2. In the crystallizer Е2 cooling of oil down to 6 °С with refrigerant.

Winterization of oil takes at least 12 hours. During this time it is stirred, and crystallization process, growth and conglomeration of wax crystals take place, which facilitates their separation in the filter.

The refrigerant is pumped through the coils of the crystallizer Е2 and is drained into the tank Е7; out of this tank it is pumped through the refrigerating machine ХМ6 with the pump Н8, where it is cooled down to the required temperature. The oil from the crystallizer Е2 is fed into the heat exchanger Т4 with the pump Н3, where the heating of the suspension with water takes place. To avoid melting of wax on the heat-exchange surface the temperature of the heating water in Т4 should be technologically required. The required temperature is kept by the heating element of the heat exchanger and the heat regulator Т4. Out of the heat-exchanger Т4 the suspension flows for filtration to the vertical pressure filter Ф5. After the filtration the oil suspension and pearlite filtering powder are drained through the filtering wall, formed by the wire filtering elements and a filtering bed. Solid phase, containing grease, filtering powder and wax-like substances remain on the filtering plates, and winterized oil is drained into the finished products tank.

When the limiting (prescribed) percolation pressure in the filter Ф5 is reached oil feed to the filter is stopped. The non-filtered oil, which remained in the filtering tank of the filter, is drained into the tank Е9.

Filtering residue remained on the filtering plates is purged with dry air to make the residue flowable and to recondition the oil. A mixture of air and oil is trapped in Л14, where they are separated: the oil is drained into the tank Е9, and the air is bypassed to waste. Then vibrational discharge of the residue from the filter screen is carried out. Oil is added into the tank Е9 to top up the upper level. After that some pearlite powder is added into the same tank. After a short mixing cycle the suspension is fed with the pump Н10 into the filter shell Ф5. When the filter is filled the filter bed precoating is created with the help of oil circulation around the circuit Е9-Н10-Ф5. Emergence of pure oil in the filter's inspection hole evidences the bed being precoated. Isolation valves are switched to basic filtration.
